Charles Smith is a licensed Florida attorney and is the sole owner of CASLAW, PLLC.
Early in his career, Mr. Smith practiced in the realms of General Litigation and Business Law including Employment and Personal Injury. Mr. Smith successfully negotiated a multimillion dollar commercial real estate transaction and assisted numerous companies, both large and small as corporate counsel. Mr. Smith also successfully assisted in obtaining hundreds of thousands of dollars for individuals who were wrongly terminated or injured. During this time, Mr. Smith gained important and relevant experience that he continues to utilize in his daily Immigration practice. For most of his career, Mr. Smith served as a Senior Managing Associate for a law firm in Lake Mary, Florida in which he oversaw and directed the Immigration department. Mr. Smith practices almost exclusively in Immigration Law and his experience and knowledge is broad and capable. Mr. Smith is experienced in all immigrant based petitions including but not limited to I-130’s, I-485’s, K-1’s, Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) self-petitions, consular processing cases and provisional Waiver Cases (I-601A). |
Mr. Smith is also experienced in most non-immigrant and immigrant employment based petitions including but not limited to H-1B’s, H-2B’s, L-1’s, TN, TD, E-3 and EB1-EB3. Mr. Smith has successfully handled complex H-1B petitions in the medical field for prestigious and sizeable Hospitals and Hospitalist groups. Mr. Smith has remained one of the top preferred providers of Immigration Legal Services for multiple prestigious corporations both in and outside of the medical field. Mr. Smith has extensive knowledge, experience and success in the non-profit realm of cap-exempt H-1B filings.
Mr. Smith is also no stranger to the Courtroom, where he has handled hundreds of cases that are in Removal Proceedings. Mr. Smith is experienced in complex issues of removal before the Immigration Courts and various forms of relief including Cancellation of Removal for Certain Permanent Residents (EOIR-42A), Cancellation of Removal for Certain Non-Permanent Residents (EOIR-42B), Asylum, Convention Against Torture and Withholding of Removal, Voluntary Departure, Adjustment of status in removal proceedings cases, Waivers and Requests for Prosecutorial Discretion.
Mr. Smith has successfully appeared on behalf of clients at hundreds of Immigration Court, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) hearings including Master Calendar Hearings, Individual Hearings, USCIS Interviews, ICE interviews etc. Mr. Smith has appeared before these Courts, agencies and departments throughout Florida and New York.
Mr. Smith is also experienced in Immigration Appellate work including Appeals to the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), Motions to Reopen, Motions to Reconsider and Federal Circuit Appeals.
Mr. Smith was born and raised in Stafford, Virginia; a small suburb approximately 60 minutes south of Washington, D.C. For his undergraduate studies, Mr. Smith attended George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia where he received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Administration of Justice. Mr. Smith earned his Juris Doctor degree from Barry University School of Law and is currently admitted to practice law in the State of Florida. Mr. Smith is also admitted to the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

Since I was a young child, I always knew I wanted to be an attorney. It has always been a dream of mine to help people with their problems and to defend those who needed it. I was the first person in my family to attend and graduate from college and law school and I was able to accomplish my dream. Now, I take pride and joy in helping others achieve their dreams.
